Robbie Brady Wins FAI Player Of The Year!
Robbie Brady wins FAI player of the year FAI Football awards on Sunday night after already scooping 2 awards and boy was it well deserved!!
Brady saw off fellow nominees Jeff Hendrick and Seamus Coleman to win the award, his third of the night. Speaking at the awards on RTE Sport,“ Brady said “I’ve been fortunate enough on this one, the other two nominees had fantastic years,”
“I’m honoured to have just pipped them, but it’s a massive honour for me and for my family. This for me is a massive achievement and I’m over the moon.”
The Dubliner also scooped the goal of the year and young player of the year awards after a memorable 12 months that culminated with his move back to the Premier League, and peaked on a memorable night in Lille.
Brady was an huge part of Ireland’s Euro 2016 campaign last summer, scoring the winning goal in the Group E finale against Italy to send Ireland through to the knockout stages. The whole nation, even us Flutterby Girls became huge lovers of both football and Robbie that night.
Although Ireland lost to tournament hosts France in the second round, the campaign was viewed as a success, with Brady claiming that Ireland’s performances in the summer had given the playing group the hunger to go on and try and qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
“A few [players] had been there before, but for the new lads it definitely stood to us,” said Brady when asked about the Euro’s.”
“To be able to go and represent your country on a major stage will stand to us, and it just gives us the hunger to go and qualify again.”
From what we can see he is a well deserved winner and we are so proud of you Robbie and your gorgeous family.
